SEMI-INTENTIONAL
Post-COVID Blown Glass by Malcolm Wong
“Semi-Intentional” is the name and philosophy of this exhibition. Blowing glass starts with a blob the size of a golf ball, the consistency of honey. Gathering enlarges this blob like rolling a snowball. I am not a machine. Each time I make a piece of glass, there is a good chance that the result will surprise, hopefully delight, and sometimes — disappoint me. Success or failure, I enjoy the process, regardless — there’s always something to learn. Like life, we may have a goal, an expectation, perhaps even a number in mind that we want to attain. Sometimes you have to settle for what you get, sometimes you will get something beyond your wildest expectations.
Malcolm Wong started blowing glass in 1977 in Hawaii under the tutelage of Steve Correia, a pioneering glassblower in the style of Neo-Art Nouveau. Stemware by Correia Art Glass was chosen by Rosalyn Carter for the White House. Mrs. Carter, President Carter’s wife passed away at the age 96 on November 19, 2023. It’s been a long, strange but wonderful triip.
Malcolm’s other creative endeavors include writing and producing a graphic novel, DOG EATERS and dabbling in music. He has also won screenplay contests with two other scripts.

Elements of a matrix
Floating on darkness alone
Sliding down the mountain
To the great unknown
Flying high above the clouds
They say you can see
Beyond eternity
Twilight closes in
Buckets full of tears
And rainbows in my eyes
Static in my ears
Can’t camouflage the lies
Dreaming at the speed of thought
Lost in a smokescreen
Destination unseen
Propagate baseless hope
Pump on the brakes
Before you awake
Twilight closes in
Buckets full of tears
And rainbows in my eyes
Static in my ears
Can’t camouflage the lies
