Back in the saddle

Posted on 05.22.23 under Uncategorized

It’s been over 3 years and Japan is getting back to normal after COVID. This was my 2nd session back at glassblowing. It’s kinda like riding a bike, but details have to be remembered and the hands need to get back into shape. I think it’s going to take at least a couple more sessions to really start to feel “one with the glass again.”

Time Left Us

Posted on 05.17.23 under Uncategorized

Retrace the steps
Along the road we’ve walked
Open the doors
To the memories we’ve blocked
The passing years
As the seasons start to warm
I hide my fears
of the coming storm

You say
Time out of mind
Oh
Time left us behind
You say
Time out of mind
Oh
Time left us behind

Walk to the edge
of the swiftly rising sea
The tide is coming in
Our footprints but a memory
And in our dying breath
Last thoughts of the ones we loved
Vows promised in the past
Extinguished all too fast

Hand me a beer and a cigarette
I need you near me to help me forget
You told our secrets to our lasting regret
We can get caught now, not now, not yet

You can come back to me
That’s not reality
I can’t sleep
There are no dreams to keep

I stole my name back from the avant-garde
If they take me down I will die hard
Give me a bandaid and a hallmark card
My wounded inner child is ancient and scarred.

You can come back to me
I have to disagree
I can’t sleep
There are no dreams to keep
