Kahiko on the beach

Kahiko is the original Hawaiian dance. When the missionaries came and gained power, they banned this form of hula and that started the auwana form, or modern hula, which we associate with ukuleles, etc.

Haruno dances at sunset on Kaanapali Beach after her performance at the Hula O Na Keiki competition. She placed 2nd in the Oli (chanting).
