Often used as a metaphor for life as the blossoms are so delicate and ephemeral. This year, the spring weather was so cold, rainy, and inconsistent, I feared that by the time they bloomed, the leaves would also be out, muddying the pink. But April 3 was warm and sunny and they popped like popcorn. And that evening a few petals started drift down and then the rains came again.

They’re both architecture students from Paris, but Victoire (eldest daughter of CWC artists, Francois Avril and Dominique Corbasson) has been studying at Waseda this year and taking photos of Blythe as her part-time job. Julien has been studying in Berlin. They have re-united in time to enjoy the cherry blossoms next week!
