We had our first casualty. A tilapia in a feeding frenzy, jumped out of the tank and landed on the cover, where he lay in the sun until he died, his mouth filled with fish pellets…
As you can see, he’s a pretty nice size.
Why do I call him, “he?” You can see there are only 2 holes. A female has three.
The next day, the other half of the accident floated to the top of the tank, belly up…
We think that the impact of their collision while they both went for the same food sent the larger fish out of the tank and onto the cover. This smaller tilapia stayed in the tank.
As you can see, also a male.
